Stillness vs. Sequence

The project was photographing an motional object and other objects in the photos was still.

I took photos to the entrance gate of my dormitory because I come in and go out through it every day. It is the beginning and the  ending of my every day life and it is also the separation of my private life and my public life. Inside the entrance, I can see there are cars and pedestrians running by or walking by on the street.

This is the finished piece.

Long vs. Short

The project was choosing an event that can be depicted temporally and contently.

I chose the process of  development of people consuming energy.

I picked following ages:

Firstly, primitive people collided rocks to making spark.

Then, people built windmill.

Thirdly, steam engine was invented.

Now, we use electricity to charging our cell phones.

So I illustrate this process by a group of charging "phones".

(rock- 1% charged)

(windmill- 33% charged)

(gear- 66% charged)

(iPhone- 99% charged)

Finally, the phone is 99% charged because people still develop the method of consuming energy, it could be more environmental friendly in the future.

Time Map

The project was taking 20 photos of an action and creating a map.

I took photos to a pot of boiling water. I found that it looked like a numbers of jelly fishes swimming up to the surface of water.

So the form of my map was refer to jelly fishes. I made it with wires and plastic bag.

There are the photos of my final piece.
